The Turkish team of SOS-Attendance organized a workshop on “School Attendance Problems” at Atatürk University. Education administrators, school principals, and school psychologists were invited to the workshop. Approximately 350 people attended the workshop, where real-time quantitative data was collected through electronic systems. All participants accessed and responded to 10 questions prepared by the workshop committee and the SOS-Attendance project team using their smartphones. After receiving electronic responses, findings from each question were evaluated and opinions were gathered by at least one school principal and one school psychologist. During the process moderated by project coordinator Prof. Dr. İsmail Seçer, comprehensive and important information about school attendance problems was obtained. The workshop is also considered to serve as an important awareness-raising and dissemination function for school attendance problems and the SOS-Attendance project.
